The government of Cairo, Egypt planned to build a monorail project in the two areas of 6th of October City and the new capital in 2016. In 2018, a consortium composed of Egypt’s Bombardier and local civil builder Orascom successfully won the bid for the project;
The 6th of October City project plans to construct a 42-kilometer monorail line, with 12 stations and one depot, and plans to use 120 4-group INNOVIA 300 monorail trains;
The New Capital Project plans to build a 52-kilometer monorail line, with 21 stations and one depot, and plans to use 160 4-group INNOVIA 300 monorail trains.
