At 1:00 pm on December 16th, Bangkok Transit System Corporation (BTSC) officially launched the operation of the Golden Line and Green Line extension of Bangkok MRT. The APM cars of Golden Line provided by PBTS were put into service. Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha attended the opening ceremony and took the APM car of Golden Line.

The opening of the Golden Line and Green Line extension was warmly welcomed by the local people. Civil servants in the district along the MRT, officials from the Ministry of the Interior and staff of Thaksin Hospital rejoiced to celebrate the arrival of the MRT on both sides of the Chao Phraya River. During the test ride in the afternoon, the APM car of Golden Line with full trains of passengers travelled on the northern bank of the Chao Phraya River, and transferred seamlessly through Thonburi Station on the Green Line of the BTS MRT, and quickly reached the main urban area of Bangkok on the southern bank of the Chao Phraya River. People experienced the convenience brought by rail transit.

The Bangkok MRT Golden Line is Thailand’s first fully automated unmanned MRT line with a total length of 1.74 kilometers. There are 3 stations in operation as of the 16th December and an estimated daily passenger flow of 4,200 people. The opening of Bangkok's Golden Line to traffic will improve the connectivity of the transportation network along the Thonburi River, between the commercial district and other city center. It will ease traffic congestion in the urban area of Bangkok, and provide travel convenience to local residents.

3 2-car trains of unmanned Bombardier INNOVIA 300 APM vehicles based on an original Canadian design operate on the Golden Line of the Thai MRT. The first train of the Golden Line was shipped to Thailand at the delivery ceremony on the 26th May, 2020, and the second and third trains were shipped from the Wuhu(China) plant to Thailand on the 23rd July. At present, all vehicles have been successfully delivered. The inauguration of the Bangkok MRT Golden Line marks the official launch of the PBTS's first overseas APM project, which will lay the foundation for enhancing the company's overseas influence and further expanding overseas markets.
