A New Breakthrough in the South American Market！PATS Won the Order for 133 Monorail Trains in Brazil
Recently, CRRC Puzhen Alstom Transportation Systems Limited (PATS) won the order for vehicles on the extension line of Line 15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. PATS will provide 19 7-car trains with a total of 133 straddle monorail trains for this extension line. The first train is expected to be delivered by the end of 2024. After export to Thailand and other countries and regions, the market map of monorail vehicles "intelligently made in China" by PATS has been further expanded, achieving a breakthrough in the South American market for monorail vehicles.
Sao Paulo, Brazil has the largest and most mature urban rail transit network in South America. At present, there are 6 subway lines, 7 municipal railways, 1 monorail line in operation, and several other lines (including two straddle monorail lines: Line 15 extension and Line 17) are under construction.
The Line 15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was opened in August 2014, has a total length of 27 kilometers with 18 preset stations. It is the first straddle monorail urban rail transit line in South America. The phaseⅠ of Line 15 extends 11.6 kilometers and has 10 stations. It was initially operated by one of the two main local operators, Metrô de São Paulo. Since the beginning in March 2019, the construction of the extension line of Line 15 has started. The mileage of the line was increased to 17.4 kilometers, and 3 new stations were added. It is planned to be put into operation in 2025.
The straddle monorail provided by PATS for this project will connect Line 15 with other lines in the Sao Paulo rail transit network, forming a supplement to the large-capacity subway, municipal railway and other systems, giving full play to the advantages of the medium-capacity rail transit system in the urban public transportation system.
