The first train of Hong Kong International Airport Three Runway APM turnkey project starts production

Page view

January 11th, as scheduled, PBTS starts the assembly of the first-vehicle of the Hong Kong International Airport Project. The 3601 Three Runway New APM Line (TRC line). Another major accomplishment as the project team completes overall design phase, and passes the first mandatory car-body-welding inspection: all successfully approved by our customer.

With the 3601 Three Runway New APM Line (TRC Line) project at Hong Kong International Airport, PBTS’s project team has successfully organized and coordinated all involved parties involved in the project to meet the high standards and requirements demanded the customer. Project implementation was, at all times, run according to schedule. This is the more commendable this year where, in the face of the pernicious global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project team was able to surmount all odds to successfully complete the project on schedule. The Hong Kong International Airport Authority, in recognition of such effort, wrote a letter to PBTS to congratulate the 3601 project team for their dedication and hard work.

The Hong Kong Airport APM is PBTS’s first overseas APM system turnkey project. The project uses Bombardier’s INNOVIA APM 300 rubber-tired rail transit system technology. The six-car train operation mode is adopted in the early, short and long term. Project scope includes: design and equipment supply (vehicles, communications, signaling, Traction power supply, track switches, Platform screen doors, Depot equipment, etc.); civil construction (walking surface and guide beam); installation (all electromechanical equipment installation); and system integration. At present, the design phase of the project has been completed, and, this past November, the project team successfully passed the first mandated car-body-welding inspection by EMSD-Railway Branch (RB). Wayside and civil work are also proceeding according to schedule.

Hong Kong International Airport is an internationally renowned hub airport that adheres to four core principles: "safety, operational efficiency, customer service and environment", and thus it has been granted the World's Best Airport Award for many times. The Hong Kong Airport Three Runway System Project is a major infrastructure undertaking that supports both the aviation industry as well as Hong Kong's long-term economic development. After completion and operation of the 3601 Three Runway New APM Line, Hong Kong’s airport will greatly improve its passenger travelling efficiency and will be better equipped to meet the needs of passengers. The TRC line is a core project for the construction of the Three Runway of Hong Kong International Airport.
