Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha Attends the Ceremony Commemorating the Arrival of the First Train for the MRT Pink&Yellow Line Monorail Projects at the Port

At 10:00 AM on October 1st, local time in Thailand, the ceremony commemorating the arrival of the first BOMBARDIER INNOVIA Monorail 300 trains for the MRT Pink and Yellow Line monorail projects in Bangkok was held at Laem Chabang Port, Bangkok where Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the ceremony.

At 10:45 AM, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha arrived at the event site and was warmly welcomed by the Mass Rapid Transit Authority, Northern Bangkok Monorail Co., Ltd. (NBM) and Eastern Bangkok Monorail Co., Ltd. (EBM) and honorary guests.

The video of the MRT Pink and Yellow Line vehicle production and the first train departure process was played at the event site. The Minister of Transport made an introduction speech, and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha congratulated all on the ceremony. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha and the honorary guests were invited to cut the ribbon for the ceremony. Afterwards, the Prime Minister and guests visited the vehicles and took a group photo in front of the first trains of the Pink and Yellow Lines.

On September 4th, the first trains of the Pink and Yellow Lines in Bangkok, Thailand, departed from the CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems Ltd. (PBTS) factory in Wuhu, Anhui. It was shipped to Thailand via Shanghai Port and arrived in Laemchabang International Ro-Ro Terminal (C0 port),  Bangkok, Thailand on September 29th. The ceremony commemorating the arrival of the first train for the MRT Pink and Yellow Lines marked that the first monorail trains have been delivered overseas by PBTS. The Yellow and Pink Line projects have now entered the stage of production and on-site commissioning services. The ceremony represents a remarkable achievement from the project teams, from PBTS, Bombardier, NBM and EBM, after two years of hard work and collaboration.

In June 2017, Bombardier Transportation successfully signed the orders to deliver its turnkey BOMBARDIER INNOVIA Monorail 300 systems for the MRT Yellow & Pink Lines in Bangkok, Thailand, awarded by the NBM and EBM companies. The straddle-type monorail trains for both projects are provided by PBTS, based on Bombardier Transportation’s design, with a total of 72 trains - 288 cars. The vehicle is designed and manufactured to be fully automatic and driverless and meets GoA4 standards, with excellent safety, reliability and comfort. All trains will be delivered by early 2022.

CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems Ltd. was established in 2014. It is a joint-venture between CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co., Ltd. and Bombardier Transportation. It is the first professional domestic company specializing in the design, production, integration and sales of monorail and APM rubber-tired rail transit vehicles and systems. Since its establishment, PBTS has successfully obtained multiple mass transit rubber tire projects, including Shanghai Pujiang Line, Hong Kong Airport APM System, Wuhu Rail Transit Line 2 Phase 1 and Line 1 Monorail, , Shenzhen Airport APM System, Chengdu Tianfu Airport APM System, , and Beijing Airport Terminal APM System as well as providing vehicles to Bombardier Transportation for turnkey system projects in Thailand and SingaporeIn March 2018, the Shanghai Pujiang Line, the first domestic rail transit APM driverless line using the cars of PBTS, was put into trial operation.
